Duluth FC’s 2024 season concluded with a 3-0 loss to El Farolito in San Francisco as part of the NPSL’s national semifinals. Today marked the second time Duluth has ever taken part in the league’s national semifinals and the fourth time a Minnesotan team has ever-done so.
El Farolito took a 2-0 lead into halftime after two excellent shots from distance bested the hard work of the BlueGreens backline. Duluth had multiple big chances to score in the first half, including two for Liam Pritchard, but El Farolito’s goalkeeper had a night to remember to help keep the BlueGreens off the scoresheet.
Changes came in the second half and Duluth looked for a path forward, but the hosts did well to prevent a goal despite the introduction of attacking talents like Felipe Santos and Tyler Limmer. The game eventually concluded at 3-0, with Duluth helped by multiple big saves from Jamie Colvill (Northland College-alum) before the hosts scored their third in the 93rd minute.
Duluth ends the season as NPSL North Conference and NPSL Midwest Region champions, a historic double for the club and Minnesotan lower league soccer.
The game concluded a season full of proud moments for the club, its players, and its coaching staff, headed by former veteran player Sean Morgan, who became the first former NPSL North player to ever win either trophy.
