Duluth FC faced NPSL newcomers Minnesota Blizzard for the first time Wednesday, June 12, in a 3-0 win in Lakeville, MN to extend the BlueGreens win streak to three.
The Blizzard held on to a 0-0 for the first 40 minutes of the night in a strong display from the new arrivals to the NPSL that featured big saves, but Duluth found a way. Goals from Oyebamiji and Nys late in the half and both in part from quick transitions on the break put Duluth up 2-0 at halftime.
Nys struck again early in the second half, converting on a sloppy turnover by the Blizzard to score his seventh goal in seven league games for Duluth, a highly impressive tally by the Belgian. That lead held strong for the remainder of the game as Duluth earned its first clean sheet in five games.
Duluth’s next game will be in the Minnesota Super Cup on June 15, hosting MASL team Force FC. They return to league action on June 19 against the Sioux Falls Thunder.
