Duluth FC vs. Dakota Fusion
Moorhead, MN
June 3, 2023 | Matchday 6
Current 2023 Records (W-L-T):
Duluth: 5-0-0
Fusion: 2-0-1
Duluth FC returns to the road on June 3rd after two consecutive home games, traveling to Moorhead, MN to face the Dakota Fusion for the first time this season. The two teams beat one another at home last year, with the Fusion’s 3-1 win against Duluth in Moorhead a key moment of the 2022 season.
The Fusion, who are coached by former BlueGreens goalkeeper Sam Winning, currently sit in second place on seven points from three games. While the Fusion are eight points behind Duluth, they do have two games in hand, meaning that games like Saturday’s will be key in the BlueGreens’ efforts to hold on to first place.
The trip provides Duluth another opportunity to showcase their high-impact attack, which has 14 goals in five games, and also their so-far impenetrable defense. As of June 2, Duluth were one of four teams in the NPSL to have conceded one or fewer goals this season, the only to hold that status with four or more games played. Their one goal conceded came in the home win against Sioux Falls.
This game marks the end of the first half of the season. Following the Fusion game, Duluth will begin to replay the six other teams in the NPSL North, starting with a home game against La Crosse Aris on June 10.
The boys are back on the road with a job to do, so keep an eye on Saturday night to see how the BlueGreens fare out on the border!
