Duluth FC ended the 2024 regular season on a complicated note on July 6, losing 3-2 to Siouxland United on the road to earn a 7-1-4 overall record and earn the second seed in the upcoming playoffs.
The game started well for Duluth, who led 1-0 at halftime and 2-1 late in the game due to goals from Liam Pritchard and Dylan Sumner. Siouxland had other ideas and, in a game that saw several yellow cards given to the BlueGreens and eventually a red to goalkeeper Ezekiel Foltz, the hosts pushed for goals.
Siouxland equalized early in the second half to make it 1-1 and scored two very late goals to make it 3-2 by the final whistle, earning the expansion team their first ever win against Duluth FC.
Duluth now turns its attention to the NPSL North playoffs, which they enter as the second seed. They will host the TwinStars on July 10 in the first round. If Duluth win, they will play the winner between first seed Dakota Fusion and fourth seed Joy Athletic. The highest seed hosts, so only a Joy victory would allow Duluth to host the conference final the following week.
