Duluth will return home Saturday, May 20, following their season opener with a home opener against the Sioux Falls Thunder. Like the TwinStars, last week’s opposition, the Thunder are another team Duluth earned two wins against last season. Both matches, however, were tense affairs.
The BlueGreens won 3-2 against the Thunder both at home and on the road, escaping defeat, and draws, on multiple occasions. To a degree, no team troubled Duluth as much in conference play last season as much as Sioux Falls did, even eventual conference champions Med City. Navigating out of both games with wins proved a key test for Sean Morgan’s men.
Now, Duluth will welcome Sioux Falls into the 2023 season, with the Thunder receiving the bye for week one of the NPSL North. Familiar foes in the NPSL North, the BlueGreens now feature a veteran from the Thunder. That veteran is Tyler Limmer, who had one goal and one assist for Duluth against the TwinStars. Limmer is a rare example of a player moving between the two clubs and has hit the ground running for the BlueGreens.
Saturday’s game will kick off Duluth’s fifth season bringing NPSL soccer to Public Schools Stadium, an occasion Duluth FC looks forward to welcoming you all to. Go BlueGreens!
