Duluth FC earned a confident eighth win of the season on Saturday, June 17, as they beat the Minnesota TwinStars 6-1 in a largely clean game. Duluth now have 24 points from eight games at the top of the North table.

The win saw Duluth score four first half goals from Felipe Santos, Liam Pritchard, Tom Akinola, and Conor Behan within 20 minutes. Santos made a rare start against the TwinStars, and added to his two goals from the last game against Aris. Pritchard, Akinola, and Behan all also did well with their starts, emphasizing Duluth’s depth.

A TwinStars penalty kick prevented the clean sheet, but Duluth looked clear and ahead of the opposition after 45 minutes nonetheless.

Rory Doyle and Tyler Limmer scored second half goals to extend the lead to 6-1 within the hour mark. Limmer now has 7 goals from 9 games in all competitions for Duluth FC.

No goals followed that spree, but it was more than enough to ensure Duluth continued to be top of the North conference, all but confirming a spot in the new NPSL North conference playoff format, which will see the top four teams playoff for the conference title.

That spot can be confirmed in Duluth’s next league game, on road against the Sioux Falls Thunder on June 21.
