Duluth FC at Forward Madison | Mar. 19, 2024
US Open Cup | Breese Stevens Field | Madison, WI
Duluth Football Club will open their 2024 season Tuesday, Mar. 19, by traveling to play Forward Madison at Madison’s Breese Stevens Field in the latest edition of the US Open Cup
Forward Madison is a professional third division team based in Madison, WI. They play in the USL League One and, starting play in 2019, are set to begin their sixth consecutive year in that league this Spring.
This will mark Duluth FC’s first-ever match against Forward Madison, as well as Forward Madison’s first-ever competitive game against a member of the NPSL North Conference. Duluth’s last game against a professional club was in 2018 when the club hosted Saint Louis FC at Denfeld High School in a 2-0 loss. Duluth has participated in two previous editions of the U.S. Open Cup in 2018 and 2019, winning its first-ever game in the competition against the Dakota Fusion in the former and exiting early in 2019 in their opening game against the Des Moines Menace.
Duluth FC will be led by head coach Sean Morgan for the fourth consecutive season in 2024. Morgan will be making his debut as a head coach in the Open Cup, though he has also featured as a player in the tournament with Duluth.
The challenge of facing Forward Madison is sure to provide an unique opportunity for Duluth FC ahead of the 2024 NPSL season, which will see the club face two new members in the NPSL North conference, the Minnesota Blizzard and Siouxland United.
Soccer season is on the horizon, so keep an eye on Duluth FC to join us in once again bringing the beautiful game to the beautiful city!
