Duluth hosted the Dakota Fusion midweek in a 0-0 draw at Public Schools Stadium on May 22. It marked the latest meeting between one of the team’s Duluth has the most history with, having played against the Fusion since 2017 and playing against now-folded sibling club Fargo FC in 2016.
A competitive first half saw neither team score despite big chances. Tyler Limmer came closest, scoring but having the goal marked off by the referee. Both goalkeepers, including Duluth’s Ezekiel Foltz, came up with big saves in the opening 45.
The waiting game continued into the second half, with neither side able to figure out the other. The game eventually ended 0-0, marking Duluth’s first draw of the season, first clean sheet, and first time being shut out in league play this year. The first three games of the season leave Duluth with seven points, top of the NPSL North standings for the time being.
Duluth will play its first 2024 NPSL road game this coming weekend, facing Dakota Fusion in a rematch on May 25 at Jim Gotta Stadium.
