The schedule for the 2023 NPSL season is out and Duluth FC now knows where and when it will take on its sixth season as a member of the NPSL North. There are seven teams in the conference this season, which means Duluth will have a few days where they receive a bye while other clubs play. These days are currently June 14th, July 1st, and July 5th.
May
Duluth FC will open its season on the road to the Minnesota TwinStars on May 13th. The BlueGreens started their season in the Twin Cities last year as well, playing Joy Athletic on that occasion. The BlueGreens scored 11 goals on the TwinStars last season so this is sure to be an interesting first game.
The BlueGreens’ home opener for 2023 comes on May 20th as they host the Sioux Falls Thunder. It’ll be Duluth’s sixth season facing the Thunder, but while the South Dakotans have always been a difficult test, fans can be reassured by the BlueGreens two wins over the club in 2022.
Duluth then plays La Crosse Aris on the road on the 24th and Joy Athletic at home on the 27th. These two clubs finished last and second-to-last respectively last season. While that means Duluth will be the odds on favorites in those games, both are sure to provide a challenge and look to upset expectations.
Duluth ends the month by hosting Med City on the 31st. Med City are the reigning conference champions and a draw in Duluth helped them achieve that last season. This matchup provides Morgan’s squad a chance to even things out.
June
Duluth starts June on the road to the Dakota Fusion on the 3rd. The Fusion are the only team in the conference this season that beat Duluth last year, so traveling to 2022’s third place finishers is sure to be an important challenge.
The BlueGreens then host La Crosse Aris on June 10th and the Minnesota TwinStars on June 17th, providing a big opportunity to pick up points.
Duluth will then face a string of away games, starting with the long trek to Sioux Falls on June 21st. Duluth will travel to Joy Athletic in St. Louis Park on June 24th and Med City in Rochester on June 28th.
July
Duluth’s final regular season game will be at home against the Dakota Fusion on July 8th. This means if the BlueGreens are to compete for the conference title and a playoff position, the fate of those campaigns will play out right at home at Public Schools Stadium. Duluth beat the Fusion 3-1 at home last season and it’s sure to be an interesting matchup.
