Duluth FC traveled to Sioux Falls on Saturday looking to amend the damage done by two recent losses to the Fusion and TwinStars. The BlueGreens did just that, getting their first win in four games by beating the Thunder 4-1.
The day started with an early goal from Rory Doyle to give Duluth a 1-0 lead at halftime. Edu Nys continued his strong season on the otherside of half time, scoring his third of the year to extend the lead. The Thunder struck back to make it 2-1 at the hour mark six minutes later.
Nys was ready to go and scored a second goal to earn his first brace for the team and extend his count to four. With the clock ticking down, Duluth made several adjustments, including the introduction of veteran player Paul Bobai, who scored the final goal in the 90th minute to make it 4-1. The win means Duluth remains very much in the race for the top spots in the conference, but with serious competition from the Minnesota TwinStars and Dakota Fusion.
Duluth’s next game will be on June 4, traveling to Stillwater to face St. Croix Legends in the MN Super Cup. They will host the TwinStars in a rematch four days later on June 8.
