Duluth FC hosted Siouxland United for the first time in club history last Saturday, beating the visitors 2-1 at Public Schools Stadium in a memorable first-ever face off. The goals, however, took time. Duluth were close to opening the scoring in the first half, but an early Tyler Limmer shot was ruled off to keep it 0-0. Goalkeeper James Price, making his first appearance of the 2024 season, came up big soon after to keep Siouxland off the scoresheet too as the game paused at a 0-0 tie at half time.
A scrappy first half did not slow the BlueGreens for long and Charlie Wood, making his first start of the season, scored to make it 1-0 in the 47th minute. Siouxland United were quick to respond and the new NPSL North members scored just four minutes later to make it 1-1.
A red card near the hour mark put Duluth in a difficult position, but Myles Edmondson was there to put Duluth ahead a man down, making it 2-1. Siouxland were shown a red card in the final ten minutes, evening the game at ten versus ten. Duluth held strong for the remainder of the game, securing a 2-1 win over the Outlaws to make it two wins from two games this season.
Duluth will stay home for their next league game, hosting the Dakota Fusion, a long-time foe in the NPSL North, on May 22.
