Job Title: General Manager

Duluth FC Soccer Team

The General Manager for Duluth FC will be responsible for overseeing the operational and administrative aspects of the NPSL soccer team. This role requires a proactive, organized individual who can manage logistics, coordinate events, and facilitate communication between staff, volunteers, sponsors, and the community. The General Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the team runs smoothly both on and off the field.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Ongoing Responsibilities

1. Staff Management:
– Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss updates, gather feedback, and encourage volunteer participation.
– Manage and coordinate volunteers to ensure all roles are filled, and maintain a positive environment for staff engagement.
2. Merchandise and Sponsorship:
– Work with ownership to secure partners and sponsors.
– Collaborate with the merchandise team to develop, refresh and maintain inventory on merchandise offerings.
– Work with sponsors to explore new partnership opportunities and oversee promotional initiatives.
3. Media and Community Engagement:
– Engage with the media team to enhance visibility and promote club events.
– Facilitate community outreach and involvement, including coordinating Club Days and promotional ticket offers.

Off-Season Responsibilities

1. Apparel and Equipment Management:
– Coordinate with kit manufacturer for jersey design and ordering of team uniforms, apparel and coaching gear.
– Manage the ordering and organization of team equipment and supplies.
2. Sponsorship and Merchandise Development:
– Collaborate with the merchandise team to identify new merchandise ideas and ensure inventory is adequately stocked.
– Work with sponsors to plan promotional giveaways during select home games.
3. Work with coaching staff on any needs focused on the recruiting process.
– Assist coaching staff on any needs throughout the recruiting and onboarding process of players.
– Facilitate communication between coaches, incoming players and Host Family Coordinator on logistics of getting players.
– Oversee the player registration process.

Preseason Responsibilities:

1. Venue Booking and Management:
– Work with venues on securing training scheduled games and camps for the season.
– Work with venue coordinators on access to each venue as needed.
2. Preseason Event Coordination:
– Organize player signing events, including logistics for materials and promotional items.
– Set up business accounts for team communication tools such as wireless hotspots.
3. Game Day Preparation:
– Prepare game day host sheets and coordinate logistics with visiting teams.
– Organize watch parties for away games, ensuring an engaging experience for fans.

In-Season Responsibilities:

1. Game Day Operations:
– Work with Game Day Manager and staff to assist with game day setup and provide direction to volunteers and staff.
– Welcome sponsors and special guests during home games and facilitate meet-and-greet opportunities.
2. Community Events and Engagement:
– Organize promotional giveaways during selected home games, collaborating with sponsors for additional support.
– Coordinate with the venues to secure and manage concessions and food trucks for all home games.
3. Communication and Coordination:
– Maintain open communication with coaching staff regarding training schedules and team logistics.
– Collaborate with conference officials to confirm game schedules and manage any necessary adjustments.
4. Away Game Logistics
– Work with bus company, away hotel groups and coaching staff to organize travel logistics for away games.

Additional Duties:

– Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, sports organizations, and community partners to foster collaboration and support for the team.
– Prepare and distribute promotional materials related to team events and activities.
– Maintain accurate records of team activities, sponsorship agreements, and volunteer contributions.
